WOBURN LITTLE LEAGUE COVID -19

 

All players, coaches, staff, spectators and other attendees must adhere to specifically required guidelines from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (Workplace Safety and reopening Standards for Business and Other entities providing youth and adult amateur sports Activities—Phase 3, step 1), The Best Practices on Organizing, Playing and Watching Little League Baseball and Softball During the Caronavirus Pandemic and any additional requirements that may be in place based on guidelines set forth by the City of Woburn, MA.  All players shall have a COVID-19 Liability Waiver form signed by parent or guardian and returned to the Team Manager.

Guidelines MUST be followed, if guidelines are not followed and at the Leagues discretion, spectators, players, coaches can be asked to leave the playing surface and in addition any game, practice or season can be canceled.

Guidelines Prior to Practice or Game

  • Anybody showing symptoms of COVID-19 shall not be permitted to participate
    • Parent or Guardian of player(s) is responsible check temperature and to perform a medical assessment.
  • Do not come to practice or game if you or any member of your household are not feeling well or are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Do not come to practice or game if you or any member of your household have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • Do not come to practice or game if you are not comfortable with the guidelines set forth by the State, City or WLL.
  • Adults 65 years and older or people of any age with serious underlying medical conditions are strongly encouraged not to attend practice or game at this time.

Guidelines during practice or game:

  • No more than 25 players or participants can be on a single playing surface/area.
  • All players, coaches, umpires and spectators should practice “good hygiene” by regularly washing their hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.  Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.  Players and coaches should avoid contact necessary during practice or games.  Post-game handshakes shall be replaced by a “tipping of caps” as a sign of good sportsmanship.
    • Each manager will be provided a Covid-19 care package.
    • Parents are strongly encouraged to supply their player(s) with antibacterial wipes or hand sanitizer, mask.
  • Players, coaches, umpires and spectators should maintain 6-feet
  • Face-coverings:
    • Coaches: required to wear face-coverings at all times
    • Players:
      • Players are required to wear face coverings while at bat and as a runner.
      • Players are required to wear face coverings while in the designated area for the players
      • Players are not required to wear face coverings while on the field playing defense.
      • Players are permitted to wear a face-covering any time if the player or their parent/guardian/caretaker deem it necessary.
    • Umpires: Encouraged to wear face-covering whenever applicable and possible. “Plate” umpires calling pitches shall wear surgical masks over the lower half of their standard protective facemask.
    • Spectators: required to wear face-coverings and to observe the game in areas designated for spectators
  • Drinks & Snacks: All players, coaches, spectators and umpires should bring their own water bottle that is clearly labeled with their name. There should no food brought to the game or practice.  No sharing of water bottles are allowed.
    • Consumption of food, sunflower seeds, gum, etc., is prohibited in player designated areas or on the field.
    • All players and coaches shall refrain from spitting at all times.
    • Team snacks and beverages are prohibited.
  • Equipment: Players should use their own equipment whenever possible. If equipment must be shared, it should be cleaned and then disinfected with an EPA-approved disinfectant against COVID-19 and allowed sufficient time to dry before being used by a new player.
    • Player’s equipment (bag, helmets, bats, gloves, uniform, etc.) should be cleaned and disinfected after each use by the player/parent/guardian.
  • Baseballs/Softballs: Each team should use their own balls while in the field during competition.
    • Foul balls landing outside the field of play should be retrieved by participating players, coaches, not umpires.  No spectators should retrieve the ball.
  • Dugouts: Will BE CLOSED.  Players will be assigned an area that will allow for social distancing and all players MUST continue to wear a face covering. Players are encouraged to bring a chair or a bucket to sit on while in the designated area for players.
  • Catcher: No catchers will be used for AAA baseball
    • it is preferred that the catcher use their own equipment where possible.  When not possible the league will provide equipment and wipe down after use.  The league would prefer one catcher to be used during the game vs multiple catchers
  • Umpires will be positioned behind the mound and allowing social distancing with the pitcher
  • ALL restrooms will be closed
  • All Concession Stands will be closed: 
  • REFUNDS: if any division is canceled because of COVID-19 reasons no refunds will be granted.
